30 Years!

Tuesday the 15th of February is the 30th anniversary of the day that our venture that became Hopleaf began. When I turned the front door key at 5148 N Clark that cold February morning, I could never have imagined the growth, success and challenges that would lie ahead. It is an especially poignant anniversary because we are well aware that few independent drinking and dining establishments survive this long in the best of times and fewer still stay viable through difficulties such as those dealt us over the past two years. We are grateful to still be here and excited about our future.

To mark the occasion we’ll be launching Hopleaf’s “house” beers, a Czech style black lager and a easy drinking pale ale. These will be permanent additions to our draft list and soon they’ll be available in cans to go as well. These beers are being brewed exclusveily for Hopleaf by Art History Brewing in Geneva, Illinois. Their brewmaster, Greg Browne, is no stranger to those who know Chicago’s brewing scene over the last 25 years. He and brewery owners Tom and Cindy Rau have crafted for Hopleaf a pale ale and a dark lager that are both easy drinking, full of flavor and friendly to pair with our food offerings. Stop by for a pint. We’d love to see our longtime supporters and newcomers too.
Louise and I will be on hand most of the evening to greet our loyal customers.
